The reimagined hotel has 203 rooms, ranging from regular rooms to suites, in addition to a new fitness centre, new conference facilities and a new restaurant.
“We are very pleased with the final result and our guests are giving us great feedback. Things have turned out even better than I had dared hope for. It is also having a positive impact on future bookings,” says the hotel’s CEO, Torben Lund Jensen.
The interiors are inspired by all corners of the world and the rooms are both modern and stylish. Original art by Danish, Italian and Asian artists are on display all through the hotel.
IMPORTANT TO KEEP THE SOUL
The rooms that used to be a part of First Hotel Mayfair were refurbished in 2008, and those that used to be part of Excelsior were remodelled to become part of the new warm and charming atmosphere.
“It was a difficult task since it was very important to keep both the soul of this beautiful turn-of-the-century building as well as that of First Hotel Mayfair, which is why the new interiors needed to build on the existing architecture and the pleasant boutique atmosphere of the hotel. I feel we succeeded,” Lund Jensen says. The hotel lies in the heart of Copenhagen just a hop and a skip from Tivoli Gardens and the pedestrian street, Strøget.
The Boston Grill restaurant is also brand new, and as the name indicates the menu offers the finest cuisine the American East Coast has to offer. The concept is created by O’Leary’s, a company with whom First Hotels has developed several ongoing partnership projects. The restaurant offers courtyard dining, which is rare in the downtown area.
“The courtyard is an informal oasis, attracting locals and hotel guests alike. In addition, it is also a popular venue for events and receptions,” the CEO adds.
“We wanted to create a restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere offering quality food and a great but informal service. This is not a restaurant for those looking for formal waiters wearing white ties and tails,” Lund Jensen says.
Even though more and more steakhouses are opening in Copenhagen, the CEO nevertheless feels that Boston Grill offers something different.
“Although more restaurants with a similar concept have popped up lately, none match our unique style. The menu, the interiors and the service give our guests that little extra,” he argues. The menu features classic dishes, such as Clam Chowder and Côte de Boeuf. The meats are tenderised and all the vegetables are thoroughly quality-checked and mainly organically grown.
Copenhagen offers a variety of hotels, but Lund Jensen feels he knows how to ensure that this particular hotel maintains its great standing.
“Mayfair is and will forever remain Mayfair. We give great emphasis to personal service and feel that we can meet the requirements of most discerning travellers when it comes to offering quality beds, bright rooms, a unique restaurant, a fitness centre and a lounge bar. In addition, our X-factor is our service and the courtyard oasis.
